Sam Clapper - Broker, REALTOR ®
I've lived here in the Mile-High city for the last 19 years and currently enjoy raising a family while making the most of what Colorado has to offer. After graduating high school in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, I decided to join the Air Force and spent 4 years serving my country proudly. While enlisted I performed law enforcement duties and provided security for the U.S.’s ICBM missile resources in Grand Forks North Dakota. I also served a tour in Kuwait in support of Operation Desert Shield. These experiences help shape my work ethic and taught me a lot about the real world pretty quickly.
Shortly after my honorable discharge I decided to put the GI Bill I earned to work for me by enrolling at the Metropolitan State College of Denver where I studied Environmental Science. I’ve always believed strongly in advocating for the environmental protection and conservation of our open lands. I turned my connection to our natural world into a job with Outward Bound where I led outdoor expeditions for groups of kids and adults. I spent 4 years guiding and leading trips in Colorado, Utah and in Joshua Tree California. I found it truly rewarding to be able to show others the value of a connection with their natural surroundings and was fulfilled by seeing personal growth of those I helped experience the wilderness in all it’s vastness.
I took a job in Denver as a DirecTV salesman. It wasn’t easy but I learned the basic fundamentals of how to talk to people while addressing their needs using my own style. I was hooked on sales immediately and soon became obsessed with the success I could create. I eventually managed my way into a real estate advertising sales position with Trulia.com, an amazing online real estate advertising startup company, where I had my first real taste of high volume/dollar sales. I loved the idea of being able to control my own destiny and dictating my own success.
After a few years, I decided to take a leap of faith and become a Realtor. I had always enjoyed helping people and I figured what better way is there to help someone than to guide them along in the home buying process. Helping clients put roofs over their heads while building towards their future is truly the best feeling I’ve had and I feel rewarded every time I’m able to accomplish that goal with someone.
Personally, I’ve been really lucky to have found the woman of my dreams. Maggie and I have been together for about 5 years and we have started our family. We are just totally in love with raising our little boy, Dudley. My passion for Boston sports is especially notable. My job and my family demand a lot of my time but when I’m able to get away I really love exploring the mountains in Colorado, camping out and just enjoying whatever we may get into that day. Whether it’s fishing, seeing live music, going to a game or hiking trails my focus is always on personal growth and giving back to those around me.
